Steve and his children come out to help us all learn to love, or at least tolerate our reptile friends! |
The last two weeks of June were perhaps some of the best weeks I've had volunteering in a long time. I haven't talked about it here before, but I'm currently interning with a local nonprofit called
the Pet Education Project (PEP!) Part of my interning for a couple of weeks involved being a councilor and organizer for the yearly kid's summer camp! I've never had so much fun conquering fears and educating kids.
We spent the two sessions of camp with some amazing #animalheros learning all about the 5 components of pet care: Food, Water, Shelter, Care, and Love. Each day of each session we dedicated to learning about proper pet nutrition, shelters, toys, microchipping, spay/neuter, heartworm prevention and treatment, being your pet's best friend, and being an #animalhero! I was amazed at how well the elementary aged children grasped the concepts and related them to their own life. I'm so proud to have been a part of this amazing experience!
Is it next June yet?! I'm ready for more #PEPCamp!
